Overview of Phases I, II and III
LWDC takes pride in its significant contributions to the development of Lüderitz, including the establishment of Namibia's first state-of-the-art sea view gym, world-class conference facilities, and the Namibia Maritime Museum, which is a first of its kind in the country.
The company fully commits to fostering private sector growth and Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) development through tailored solutions. Thanks to the foresight of LWDC's leadership, Lüderitz has also become a hub for education, with the Lüderitz NUST Campus being a key initiative in meeting the needs of local industries and supporting the town's intellectual and skill-based growth.
Furthermore, LWDC's strategic infrastructure development, initiated before oil, gas, and green hydrogen discoveries, has positioned Lüderitz for future growth. This forward-thinking approach has been integral to the town's transformation, establishing it as the future energy capital of Namibia.
Additionally, LWDC has played a pivotal role in bringing national and international conferences to Lüderitz, elevating the town's profile. Without this swift intervention, Lüderitz would not have garnered such visibility on the global stage.
The First Phase of the Lüderitz Waterfront Development
LWDC has made significant strides in its infrastructural development, including:
- The Harbour Square, over 965 square meters, features 28 retail market stalls.
- The Market Square development spans 1,708 square meters with 27 mixed-use units for offices and residential spaces.
The Second Phase of the Lüderitz Waterfront Development
The Second Phase centres around transforming the Lüderitz Old Power Station (LOPS) into vibrant waterfront spaces. This development has become a hub for business activities, promoting business tourism and creating employment opportunities for the community. However, some areas within LOPS still require further planning and development, which management currently addresses.

Coming Soon
NTB, BIPA, NAMRA & nbc Offices at the Lüderitz Waterfront
A permanent establishment of a nbc office in Lüderitz is expected to play a supportive role to the mandate of LWDC in the sense that it shall influence positively the development narratives; and ensures it highlights that the harbour town of Lüderitz town matters in the greater scheme of things.
In other words, in the digital age (electronic information), nbc is best placed to compliment the work of LWDC and other role players in the socio-economic development process. It should be noted that our long- term objective is to create a waterfront that welcomes people and nbc can play a role through reporting and informing the greater public in terms of events that are planned and those to take place at Lüderitz Waterfront.
Imminent Implementation of Development Project
120-room Seaview Hotel
120-room Seaview Hotel development to be undertaken as a joint venture with the private sector. Currently, the town of Lüderitz does not have enough rooms to meet the increasing demand from visitors. Tourists and business travellers are often forced to stay in nearby Aus and commute to Lüderitz, which can be inconvenient. The harbour town is in urgent need of a wider range of accommodation options.
Private Hospital
Private Hospital, to be undertaken on the basis of joint venture with private sector. However, this development is likely to proceed once FID is granted in as far as green hydrogen and oil is concerned.
