About Us

The Lüderitz Waterfront Development Company (LWDC) is a state-owned enterprise, established in 1995 through a Cabinet Resolution. Its purpose is to act as a catalyst for socio-economic development in the Lüderitz area, particularly through promoting trade, tourism growth and investment.

LWDC plays a vital role in positioning the harbour town of Lüderitz, located in the //Kharas Region, as a key destination for business, tourism, education, and culture. With a multi-faceted mandate for infrastructural development, the company has developed and manages a range of facilities designed to attract visitors, stimulate investment and drive socio-economic progress.

Who are We

Unlike other SOEs that are established through an Act of parliament, LWDC is a state-owned enterprise, established in 1995 through a Cabinet Resolution as a non-profit company under Section 21 of the Companies Act.

What we Do

In the beginning, LWDC served as a catalyst for stimulation of socio-economic development such as trade, tourism growth and investment promotion in the town of Lüderitz.

The primary focus of LWDC is to stimulate economic Development locally, particularly tourism promotion, trade and help boost SME development and growth.

We facilitate key economic infrastructure development and act as an enabler for private sector growth in the Lüderitz economic value chain.
